Public Works Director Chad Nandorff told the Schererville Town Council on June 11 that work on the Klein Avenue roundabout is progressing and that contractors had completed concrete milling and about two-thirds of the new asphalt surface between U.S. 30 South and 80 Second Court. Nandorff said crews hoped to finish asphalt work the following day and complete striping on Friday, with the road likely reopening late Friday or early Saturday.
Nandorff said the Burr Street reconstruction project will start Monday, June 16, and will close the road to through traffic while providing access for the American Legion and two local residents. Work will include replacement of a 16-inch water main, installation of curbing and a new multi-use trail alongside new asphalt. He gave an estimated completion date of early October 2025.
Nandorff added that milling and paving work on 70 Seventh Avenue will start in a few weeks; that project will use flaggers rather than a full road closure.
During the utility board portion of the meeting, town staff reported that the wastewater treatment plant biosolids building project had begun demolition on the south side of the old building to allow construction of a new side while the north side remains operational.
Council members did not amend schedules or add funding at the June 11 meeting; the updates were presented as informational staff reports.
