Alice ISD shares preliminary state assessment results and summer supports, reports attendance gains

District assessment staff on June 30 shared preliminary results for TELPAS and STAAR (STAAR 3–8 and end‑of‑course), explained the phased state release schedule and outlined next steps for rescores and final accountability calculations.
The presenter said preliminary TELPAS (English proficiency) results show all six campuses met or exceeded the state’s current interim targets and that four campuses met the state’s long‑term 2037 target for that measure. For STAAR end‑of‑course exams the district provided preliminary comparisons to 2024, noting increases in some meets‑ and masters‑level performance; William Adams Middle School students who took high‑school‑credit courses this year were also included for the first time in some measures.
Staff reminded the public of TEA release dates and how families can access student‑level results through Skyward and public group results via the Texas Research Portal (state portal). The presenter cautioned that public portal figures may differ slightly from figures later used in official accountability due to snapshot and rule differences; final accountability tables are scheduled to be released in August and final ratings in December.
The presentation also summarized the district’s summer programs: Kiowa Jump Start learning academy (began June 3) with elementary sites at Charlotte and Newnan, William Adams and the high school offering STAAR support and a high‑school fast‑track credit academy (examples cited: Spanish I/II). Attendance counts for Friday, June 6 were shared: Alice High School 282, William Adams 151, Newnan 128, and Schaller 117. District staff said high school students needing retests can take end‑of‑course retests during the state assessment window next week.
Separately, the student services report noted year‑to‑date district attendance increased from 91.18% last year to 92.92% this year (a 1.74 percentage point improvement). Staff presented a district estimate of reduced attendance‑related revenue loss of $1,122,346 compared with the prior year figure cited in the presentation; staff said that figure reflects attendance improvements and included a note on the methodology used in the district analysis.
Board members and staff asked no additional questions in the public portion of the presentation; staff said they will submit rescore requests where appropriate and will continue to analyze and present final data when TEA publishes final tables.
