Construction for new district facility wraps up; administration to occupy July 17, lunches served from July 23

Appoquinimink School District construction staff told the board Tuesday that the district’s new facility is nearing completion, with a certificate of occupancy issued, exterior landscaping finished and final interior work underway.
"We do have a CO for the building. So we're in. We're occupied," the district construction presenter said, adding that administration staff would occupy the administration area on July 17 and nutrition and custodial staff are moving in immediately to prepare for lunches to be served starting July 23. The presenter described finished sod, concrete walkways, completed stucco and windows, installed cameras and completed classroom finishes as crews complete final punch-list items.
Photos and drone shots shown to trustees highlighted the gym, stage acoustical shell, cafeteria layouts and classroom furniture deliveries. The construction presenter said minor punch-list work remains but that the project is "on budget and we're definitely on time." Trustees approved earlier change orders related to additional sod, irrigation and premium-time work to meet timelines.
The district encouraged neighbors to visit and view the completed campus once site cleaning is finished. No separate board action was required during the report.
