The Cumberland School Committee voted 7-0 on June 12 to approve an agreement with Ocean State Job Lot to support Cumberland High School's Tradework student experience.
Tammy (CHS tradework teacher) described the longstanding effort to place students at accessible, entry-level jobs and said Job Lot had asked for a written agreement because it is a larger corporate partner. The district attorney reviewed the agreement and, according to meeting remarks, confirmed standard insurance and naming requirements are included.
Committee members praised the effort to expand work-based learning opportunities. The motion to approve the Job Lot agreement passed without amendment or recorded opposition.
School counsel and staff confirmed the district's insurance certificate will name Job Lot appropriately and that the attorney had reviewed the contract language before the vote.
