At the June 12 meeting the Traffic Commission voted to send multiple parking-configuration items to public hearing rather than deciding them at the meeting.
The items referred to public hearing include: a request to move a no-parking designation on Mill Street from the westerly side to easterly side (a petition with 22 resident signatures was presented); a proposal to add one-sided parking on Eaton Street (petition of roughly 10 residents); a request to add no-parking anytime on Dolphin Avenue (a single block in front of Liston Towers) to improve emergency access; and a package of four amendments to on-street parking meter zones along Broadway and adjacent cross streets (Cummings Ave, Fenno St, Hyde St, Pleasant and additional corridor locations) that staff and the councilor had previously presented at a community meeting.
Commissioners said they want hearings to give residents in the affected areas an opportunity to comment before final decisions. The motions to move these items to public hearing passed without recorded opposition.
Staff will schedule the public hearings and provide notice to affected residents; technical measurements, existing on-street usage and emergency access implications will be considered at the hearings.
