Commission converts MBTA bus-stop pilot changes on Broadway to permanent program

At its June 12 meeting the Revere City Traffic Commission voted to convert a pilot project of MBTA-related bus-stop and intersection adjustments on Broadway into a permanent program.
The approved changes, effective June 15, 2025, include permanently removing the southbound bus stop at Walgreens (Broadway) and relocating stops to Mountain Ave and Broadway to improve access for MBTA Routes 116, 119 and 411; permanently moving the TD Bank Broadway northbound stop and relocating the northbound stop to Mountain Ave and Broadway (south side); moving left-turn lane stop bars at Central Ave and Broadway back 10 feet and painting “Don't Block the Box” markings to improve turning for large vehicles and to aid the nearby fire station; moving the right-turn lane stop bar at Central Ave and Broadway back 23 feet and painting “Don't Block the Box” markings to discourage right-turn-on-red where needed; moving the left-turn lane stop bar at Park Ave and Broadway back five feet and painting “Don't Block the Box” markings; and lengthening Park Ave eastbound curb hashings between Broadway and existing metered spaces.
No MBTA representatives or planning staff appeared for comment; staff said the commission had conducted due diligence on the items and that the changes should improve intersection operations and emergency-vehicle access. A motion to approve the conversion passed unanimously at the meeting.
The commission recorded the measure as an administrative conversion of pilot changes to permanent traffic-control and curb-use arrangements. Implementation responsibilities were assigned to city traffic staff in coordination with the MBTA and public-works crews.
