Sarah Nava, owner of a certified Texas farmers market, introduced herself to the League City City Council during the public-comment period on June 10 and invited council members to attend upcoming market dates.
Nava said she relocated the Dickinson Farmers Market to League City in December and is operating the market in the Best Pro Shop parking lot. She described the business as veteran-owned, female-owned and a disabled-veteran enterprise. Nava told council the market has been doing well and thanked city staff in planning and zoning and the fire department for assisting with her move into the city.
Nava said the market runs on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month and invited councilmembers to the next market, which she said runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. She said vendors offer fresh produce when available and cottage-food vendors who make goods by hand.
No council action was taken on the comment; the remarks were recorded as part of the public-comment period.
