Lima City Council approved ordinance 1 31 25 on its reading to set 2025 admission and program rates for the Lima Community Aquatic Park, and city staff said the park’s website will be updated with rates, programming and an online payment portal once council action is final.
The approved rate structure presented to council sets child admission (ages 4–12) at $5 and general adult/teen pricing in the $7 range for ages 13–59; the ordinance includes an exhibit listing rates and program fees for seasonal passes and lessons. Officials said the park includes multiple bodies of water to accommodate both open swims and competitive meets and that meet closures are expected “maybe one to two times” per month rather than weekly.
Parks or aquatic staff told council that limaaquaticpark.com already exists as a landing page and will be updated with subpages for rates, programming and an online pay portal once the rates are approved; staff said the updates should be posted the following day.
Why it matters: The rate structure sets public access and affordability levels for a new municipal amenity that councilors described as an investment in local recreation and youth programming. Officials also emphasized that some meets may close the pool for limited periods but said meets and public hours will be scheduled to allow public access.
Councilors asked that the public be informed in advance when the facility is closed for meets. Officials said public attendance at meets is allowed and that the city aims to grow both recreational and competitive swimming in the area.
Next steps: City staff will post the approved rates and an online-ticketing portal; programming and pass sales will begin as posted on the aquatic center site.
