The Lubbock County Tax Office reported May collections for venue and short-term rental taxes during the commissioners court meeting.
Jasmine Sanchez, reporting for the tax office, said May hotel-tax collections were $198,792.36 and short-term rental collections were $72,487.53, for a combined monthly total of $371,379.89. She said 156 entities had paid in the month.
Sanchez provided fiscal-year totals through May: hotel tax $1,420,498.42 (penalties $4,362.04) and short-term rentals $519,423.95 (penalties $677.53), bringing a combined fiscal-year total of $1,955,214.18. She also reported the tax account balance: total deposited in the county bank account through May 30 of $20,325,588.48, total disbursements $7,910,640.62 and a balance of $12,414,947.86.
Sanchez noted monthly comparisons: April of last year $327,951.66 and April of this year $271,279.89, and that the monthly total was down 17% compared with the prior month; she said the yearly total was up 2% compared with last fiscal year.
The court had no further questions after the report.
