"I'm 28. We weren't supposed to be homeless," Newell said. She described contacting multiple county resource providers without success and said she felt excluded from services she believes are available. "I'm too normal to get help, but too homeless to, like, not need it," Newell said.
County staff responding during the meeting asked Newell to call (707) 463-4441 to reach the CEO's office so staff could help refer her to the appropriate services. The staff member said they could connect her to the right area for assistance; Newell gave her name and thanked the board for listening.
The comments were made during the public-expression segment and were not an agenda item; the board did not take formal action during open session related to her remarks. The recorded meeting shows the board then adjourned to closed session and reconvened with no reportable action.
