County human-resources staff reported that Franklin County raised $745 through a May dress-down fundraiser for the Mental Health Association of Franklin and Fulton Counties.
Kenny from the county human-resources department presented the results and said 47 employees across 24 departments participated. "In May, we did our monthly fundraiser for the Mental Health Association of Franklin and Fulton Counties," Kenny said. Carrie, a county staff member, described the organization’s work: "They’re dedicated to promoting mental wellness and supporting recovery in the community. They provide a pretty wide range of services along with individual and community advocacy, education, training, stigma reduction initiatives, and information and referral services."
A representative identified as Scott accepted the county’s donation on behalf of the Mental Health Association and thanked staff. Commissioners praised employees’ generosity and noted the prevalence of mental-health needs in the community. "It's just astounding that the existence is so prevalent within the community," said Commissioner (Speaker 3), recounting observations from other local boards about the prevalence of mental-health issues among people involved with the jail system.
The board held a brief photo opportunity after the presentation. No formal action or funding allocation was requested during the meeting; the item was a staff presentation and recognition of the donation.
