Board forms Student Success & Support ad hoc to gather community input on student supports

The School District of Beloit Board of Education voted to form a Student Success & Support ad hoc committee to collect community input and make research-based recommendations to the district's Teaching, Learning, Equity & Pupil Services committee and the board.

Board members Juan Romero and Joanne Ryu described the ad hoc's intended scope as community-directed and emphasized the need to involve teachers, students, parents, and community members. Romero said the group will focus on evidence-based recommendations and return a final advisory report to the TLE and pupil services committee. Board member Megan Miller urged aligning the ad hoc's work with the district's forthcoming strategic-plan update; members agreed to coordinate timelines.
