CCP Advisory Board forms community engagement committee, begins AB 109 plan update

On May 29 county staff provided the Community Corrections Partnership an update from the Community Corrections Partnership Advisory Board (CCPAB). The advisory board reported it has started work on the 2025 AB 109 plan update and has formed a standing community engagement committee.
Brad Washburn, a community member who serves on the advisory board, and other CCPAB representatives have been meeting with county agencies and collecting information to inform the plan. The advisory board said it received presentations from the sheriff's office on reentry and alternative sentencing programs and from probation on adult day reporting centers'all topics that rely heavily on AB 109 funding.
Community engagement committee and timeline
The advisory board formed a four-member standing committee of community members to meet quarterly; its first meeting is scheduled for June 5. The advisory board said the committee will solicit community input beyond the AB 109 plan'including solutions and not just concerns'and that the August meeting will focus on soliciting input for the plan update. The first committee meeting will focus on race, equity and the criminal justice system; the advisory board said it has invited community organizations that have worked on community health and justice projects.
Other work
The advisory board reported it is developing an annual evaluation form (discussed later on the partnership agenda) and will provide input to improve AB 109 plan descriptions and metrics. Partnership members noted the advisory board will be one public venue to receive community input on system-level questions, such as potential jail annex needs assessed in a request for qualifications the county has issued.
