Mike Sims, Argyle’s newly hired town manager, made a brief introduction to the Municipal Development District, summarizing his professional background and economic-development experience.
Sims said he holds a degree in public affairs from Indiana University and a master’s in economics from UT Arlington, and described 15 years at the North Central Texas Council of Governments and later roles in Terrell, where he worked on retail recruitment and downtown revitalization projects. He told the board he has experience negotiating economic development agreements, assembling infrastructure packages and working with developers, and said he intends to apply the same attention to both large and small businesses in Argyle.
Board members welcomed Sims and asked questions about regional transportation governance, interlocal cooperation, and how his prior experience would inform Argyle’s economic strategy. Sims said he expects to review the MDD’s contracts and partnerships and return to the board with recommendations on vendor value and alignment with the district’s goals.
Sims also agreed to collaborate with staff on delivering a clearer budget presentation for the MDD at the July meeting.
