The board approved the application and evaluation policy “as annotated,” incorporating small, mostly cosmetic edits discussed during the meeting. Board members said the documents were meant to create a consistent intake and review process so applicants understand evaluation criteria before submitting requests.
The policy package had been drafted from samples the staff gathered from nearby communities and adjusted after review by legal counsel and some board members. Harrison (town staff) said the application and the evaluation policy are intended to be distributed together so applicants see both the information requested and how the district will evaluate proposals.
The board approved the May 1 meeting minutes by voice vote earlier in the meeting. Members then discussed the executive-session item involving Red Lantern Fusion Restaurant. Board staff reported the restaurant’s applicants could not attend because of a death in the family and recommended tabling the application until the next meeting; the board agreed to place that executive-session item on the next agenda.
Board members asked that executive sessions be scheduled at the end of meetings in the future so members of the public do not need to leave and return for private discussion followed by a public vote.
The board directed staff to post the approved application on the MDD page of the town website and to promote it through the town’s communications channels.
