On second reading the Southlake City Council approved a zoning change and site plan for Dakota Southlake, a restaurant project at 1901 West Kirkwood Boulevard, voting 7‑0 on June 3.
Mayor Pro Tem Williamson moved the approval; the council’s motion allowed requested variances to driveway configurations, approved the tree preservation and landscape planting plan and set tree mitigation requirements. Staff and the applicant noted the required tree mitigation per the tree preservation plan is 1,845 inches; a minimum of 45 inches will be mitigated on‑site and any remaining mitigation shortfall may be paid into the city reforestation fund not to exceed $150,000. The motion also required canopy trees planted for buffer yards, interior landscape and mitigation to be a minimum of 4 inches diameter at breast height.
The ordinance approved a zoning change in the SP‑2 (generalized site plan) district and the site plan as presented, subject to staff reports dated May 27, 2025. The council’s 7‑0 vote finalized the second reading approval.
