Cochise County flood control board approves consent items; supervisor asks for accounting of Fuller Hydrology spending

The Cochise County Flood Control District Board of Supervisors unanimously approved consent agenda items 1 and 2 at its June 3 meeting in Bisbee, and a supervisor asked staff to prepare an accounting of payments made to consulting firm Fuller Hydrology.

The meeting took place at 10 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors hearing room, 1415 Melody Lane, Building G. The board said the public could also attend remotely and cited Arizona open-meeting law (A.R.S. §38-431.02) regarding public access to the meeting.

A supervisor raised concerns about the county’s spending with Fuller Hydrology, saying the county has spent “tens of thousands of dollars” with the firm and asking for a total of what has been paid and what results the county has to show. The supervisor also said they doubted the county’s aquifer level had increased as a result of that work and requested that a meeting be arranged to review the expenditures and outcomes.

There was no extended debate; a motion to approve consent items 1 and 2 was made and seconded, and the board recorded three aye votes and declared the motion passed unanimously. The meeting notice stated the next item on the combined agenda was a following jail district board of directors meeting that would consider minutes, demands and adoption of Resolution 25.02.

Attendance was noted as District 1 Supervisor Crosby present in person, District 2 Supervisor Gomez present in person, and District 3 Supervisor Antonori participating remotely. No members of the public identified themselves during a call to the public for the flood control meeting.

The supervisor’s request for a spending tally with Fuller Hydrology was recorded as discussion only in the meeting transcript; the board did not take a separate formal vote directing staff to produce the requested report during the Flood Control District meeting.

The meeting adjourned after the consent vote and brief discussion.
