The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners approved a treasurer-requested transfer of remaining administrative FEMA funds from closed flood event accounts into the county highway tax fund.
County staff said the accounts are closed and the funds are administrative leftover dollars from FEMA-managed flood events. The board approved moving $527,009.26 from those individual flood-event accounts into the highway tax fund and closing out the older FEMA accounts so those smaller balances will not carry forward into future budgets.
Commission staff noted the transfers complete accounting back to 2013 for closed events and will simplify budget work for the highway department during next year's budget process. The motion to approve the transfer passed by voice vote.
