TCEQ adds detail, impact-area questions and CCs to immediate notification confirmation email

TCEQ revised the immediate-notification web form used to report drinking-water outages and other immediate events: two new questions, stronger instructions, and confirmation emails that now CC regional staff and program mailboxes.
Kathy (Office of Compliance & Enforcement) briefed the group on minor but practical updates to TCEQ’s immediate-notification form that went live in March.
Changes include clearer instructional language about next steps after a submission, a more granular set of issue-type options (for example: low pressure, water outage, E. coli, turbidity, low disinfectant), and an explicit question asking whether the incident is related to weather. TCEQ added an "impacted area" field to indicate whether a system-wide or localized portion of the system is affected.
Kathy said the form now requires 11 of 13 fields and that the confirmation email has been augmented to include CCs to the PWS mailbox, TCEQ’s critical infrastructure division, and the local regional office. A user can reply to that confirmation email with updates or attachments (for example, follow-up sampling results), simplifying subsequent communications.
Kathy asked users to include helpful details in the free-text comments to reduce follow-up calls from TCEQ and to review the revised subject line if they have email rules that filter notifications.
