During council comments and the city-administrator report, staff said the reconstruction of Front Street is scheduled for 2027; waterline work by Kevin's crews and interim smoothing work will occur sooner. Council members asked for the street-rating schedule (Scott's winter ratings) to be circulated to the council. The administrator said preliminary budget reports and staffing discussions will be on next month's agenda; the city is recruiting for parks director and city-planner positions and has set up interview teams.
Councilmember discussion also touched on the city's trash contract; staff noted the contract and ordinance are available in the council packet (approved Dec. 16, 2024). On the Highway 100/High Street signal, a councilmember asked whether a designated left-turn arrow (green arrow) can be provided for westbound Highway 100 turning left onto High Street South; staff said the item is included in a recommended grant from East-West Gateway but construction would be years out (possible 2028–2029) and that staff can look into interim costs and accident data.
