Council approves amended Computer, Electronic Communications and Voicemail policy

Monroe City Council on Monday approved revisions to the city’s Computer, Electronic Communications and Voicemail policy.
City Manager Robinson said staff updated the policy in February 2024 and brought a new iteration to council after further changes in technology and departmental needs. The city’s IT director (last name Selle) was present for the discussion; staff provided a summary of edits and a redline version of the policy for council review.
Council discussed the list of items removed from the prior policy and confirmed the revised document balances employee access to city systems with administrative control and data‑security needs. Councilwoman Stringham moved to approve the amended policy; Councilmember Stillgrave (referred to in roll call as “Steelgrave” in the transcript) recorded support. The motion passed unanimously on roll call.
The city provided the policy summary and redline document to council for review and indicated the updated policy will be posted per normal administrative procedures.
