The Worth County Board of Supervisors authorized professional services agreements to advance bridge work and received a procurement update on a county rock run during the meeting.
Roads staff reported contractor quotes for rock surface materials, listing per‑ton bids and an estimated total cost. The county engineer’s office said BMC submitted a $13.95-per-ton bid for District 1 and that Fogg submitted the lowest bids for the remaining districts, with quoted rates reported at $13.98, $13.33, $13.24 and $13.49 per ton across other districts. Staff estimated the overall rock-run cost at about $545,532, depending on final quantities placed.
On bridge work, the board approved a professional services agreement for Brookfield 30 (design/bid engineering) at a lump-sum fee of $39,500, which staff described as final-design services following preliminary work. The board also approved a preliminary-design professional services agreement for another site (referred to in the meeting as 'March 21') with a base fee of $30,000; staff said alternate fees would apply depending on final design choices (an $18,000 fee if a box culvert is used or an additional $27,000 if a bridge is required).
Staff noted a pending preconstruction schedule for upcoming paving and said drainage, brush clearing and spraying work are also ongoing priorities. The board moved and seconded both design agreements and recorded the motions as carried by voice vote.
What’s next
Secondary Roads staff will proceed with the approved design work, finalize alternate selections (box culvert versus bridge) as design proceeds, and provide cost updates for procurement and construction scheduling.
