After the budget public hearing and recess on May 29, the Orange County Board of Commissioners considered nominations and filled several advisory‑board vacancies.
Appointments announced and approved by voice/thumb vote included an ex‑officio appointment of Gubica Tali to the Advisory Board on Aging and a Hillsborough town‑limits seat to Mary Lucas (Advisory Board on Aging). The board also appointed Anna Jefferson to the Affordable Housing Advisory Board; Alexander Gast was recommended and approved as the UNC student representative to the Arts Commission for a one‑year term; and the Economic Development Board appointments included Dr. Ivy Taylor (UNC slot), Sharon Hill, Camilla Hargett and Dave Gebhardt for various business/community positions. Commissioners indicated some seats remain open and staff will continue recruitment over the summer.
The board used the standard consent/“thumbs up” approach for these noncontroversial appointments; no formal roll‑call votes or objections were recorded in the public transcript.
