Garland council recesses into executive session to discuss Development Code legal issues and economic-development negotiations

At the close of its June 2 work session, the Garland City Council recessed into executive session to consult with attorneys about the application of state law to the Garland Development Code and to discuss economic-development negotiations involving a prospective business and potential incentives for locating near President George Bush Turnpike and Holford Road.

"The city council will adjourn into executive session pursuant to Texas Government Code sections 551.071 and 551.087," the presiding official announced before the recess. The item listed two topics for closed deliberation: attorney-client consultation regarding state-law requirements and application to the Garland Development Code; and the receipt of commercial or financial information from a business prospect and possible financial or other incentives the city might offer that prospect.
