San Benito supervisors approve Esperanza Colio Warren as county administrative officer

The San Benito County Board of Supervisors voted to approve an employment agreement with Esperanza Colio Warren to serve as the county administrative officer, the board announced at a May 29 special meeting in Hollister. The agreement sets a start date of June 16, 2025, and a three-year term ending June 16, 2028.

County Counsel told the board Warren was present for consideration, that her contract had been fully negotiated and that she agreed to the terms. Board members thanked Warren and said they looked forward to working with her as she begins overseeing county administration.

There was no public comment on the appointment at the special meeting. Supervisor remarks during the item described the hiring process as thorough; one supervisor said the board ‘‘had a lot of good debate’’ during interviews. The board recorded a roll-call vote of four yes, zero no, with one supervisor absent; the clerk announced the motion passed.

Warren’s contract, as introduced at the meeting, specifies the June 16, 2025 start date. The board did not take additional actions tied to the contract at the May 29 meeting, and county staff said required post–hiring steps — employee notices and any meet-and-confer actions — will follow according to applicable rules.

The county is expected to complete any remaining administrative steps before Warren’s first day in mid-June.
