The applicant for a proposed rezoning on Cypress Garden Road asked the Berkeley County Planning Commission to defer consideration of the case, and the commission granted the deferral until next month's meeting.
Gwen Curry, who said she represents the property owners, told the commission the applicants own multiple adjoining parcels and asked to "regroup about the property"; the applicant formally requested deferral. Planning commissioners approved the deferral on a motion by Commissioner Kearns, seconded by Commissioner Sinnott, and the motion carried by voice vote. The item will return to the commission at the next regular meeting.
The rezoning application would have sought to change about 13.3 acres from General Commercial (GC) to Heavy Industrial (HI) in Council District 3; staff and applicant indicated the request would be revisited after the applicant meets with staff and clarifies the preferred approach.
