Chair Peterson and staff described the event as a tourism and marketing opportunity: Lydia (staff) and commission members said the event typically attracts location scouts, producers and studio representatives, and commissioners urged coordination so the train and depots can provide staging, period costuming and easy access for filming crews. The commission noted Film Nevada Day has previously led to scouting visits and productions in the region and described plans to provide local docents, on-train actors in period attire and logistical support to visiting production teams.
Commissioners asked staff to discuss feasibility with operations and Tom (operations lead) and to consider sharing some production costs; they asked that staff collect contact and location information for the Film Nevada Day organizers and reported they would explore using the steam engine if available that morning. Staff added that Film Nevada Day attendees are often senior industry decision-makers with strong potential to generate future production activity.
