Council members and staff discussed the operational importance of maintaining three SROs, noting that schools generate significant public-safety call volume and that the absence of a dedicated SRO increases patrol workload and reduces the day-to-day presence that helps prevent and de-escalate incidents. The council unanimously authorized the city manager to execute the one-year agreement; the agreement runs July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
