Unified Fire Authority (UFA) presented its quarterly report for Copperton (Jan. 1–Mar. 31) at the May 21 council meeting. Dave O’Brien of UFA reported 11 incidents in Copperton during the quarter; five of those incidents were classified as emergent.
O’Brien told the council the incident count (11) is essentially unchanged from the last three years. He reported several UFA updates: a new rehab/air‑service vehicle entered service the day of the meeting (the vehicle had been ordered in the 2021–22 budget), and the unit is configured to refill firefighters’ air bottles on extended incidents, carry spare turnout sets (UFA indicated roughly 50 sets are carried to allow swapping dirty turnouts on scene) and provide refreshments for crews.
O’Brien said Station 253 will open June 3 as part of recent budgeted station additions. UFA also reported a recent recruit camp with 33 recruits and pointed residents to an interactive map on unifiedfire.org that shows restricted‑use areas for fireworks and other fire restrictions by address.
Why it matters: The rehab vehicle expands on‑scene respiratory and firefighter‑rehab capability for extended incidents and structure fires; the new station affects local response coverage. The quarterly incident count helps staff and council monitor trends.
