Stevensville awards $198,000 airport asphalt-maintenance contract to CR Contracting LLC

The Stevensville Town Council voted 4–0 on May 22 to award an asphalt-maintenance contract at the Stevensville Airport to CR Contracting LLC after the airport board recommended that firm based on the bid tabulation and contractor track record.
Brian, representing the airport, told the council the engineer's estimate for the work was $397,000 and that CR Contracting submitted the lowest responsive bid, about $198,000. Other bids ranged higher. Brian said CR's mobilization cost was significantly lower than other bidders and noted CR has a successful track record on several past projects. "So with that, we presented to the board, the board ... voted to recommend CR Contracting LLC," Brian said.
Council member Smith moved to award the contract to CR Contracting; Council member Brown seconded. The council confirmed the award and that a formal contract will be brought back for attorney review and execution.
Why it matters: Airport pavement maintenance affects airfield safety, operations and the timing of FAA grant-funded work. Brian told the council FAA funding remains pending; the airport board has been working to finalize submittals so it can order a replacement fuel tank once funding is available.
Next steps: Town staff said the attorney will review the contract and the council will return to ratify the agreement and any related documents once the legal review is complete.
