Board approves budget amendments; finance reports sales tax and project bids pending county approval

Finance director Miss Bray reported year-to-date revenues at roughly 90% ($63,820,041) and expenses at about 73.43% ($57,220,237.71). Sales tax receipts were running ahead of last year by about $280,000 year-to-date but below the adopted budget projection; property taxes are largely collected. Miss Bray said about $3 million in grant money is designated and not available for general spending; those funds will roll forward into next fiscal year budgets.
The board approved bundled budget amendments covering general fund cleanup, bonuses, special education general allocations, and summer learning funding (including about $500,000+ for summer teachers/assistants and roughly $85,000 for transportation). The motion to approve the amendments passed on roll call; members present voted yes as recorded.
On capital projects, staff reported roof and field bids are opened but final awards await approval from county finance and the county purchasing committee; the SMHS field and several roofing and electrical projects were specifically mentioned. Staff said they will expedite approval where possible to meet project timing.
