The Clute City Council voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance No. 2025‑013, Budget Amendment No. 1, approving a $650,000 transfer from the city’s general‑fund unrestricted reserves to fund emergency repairs to city hall and the records building.
Council’s ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2024–2025 budget to provide supplemental appropriations and authorizes staff to proceed with the scope of work identified in the staff and engineering reports. The funds will be used for emergency facility repairs that include roof work, replacement or relocation of rooftop HVAC units to a ground‑based chiller or multi‑split system, and ADA‑compliant entrance upgrades. Staff said the city has already received approximately $250,000 from an insurance reimbursement and that the requested transfer would be combined with insurance proceeds to launch the projects.
Staff presented preliminary engineering estimates that show roughly $300,000 for roof repairs and roughly $400,000 for a chiller or related HVAC work; the ordinance authorizes the transfer so staff can finalize procurement and issue task orders to begin work. The city manager said engineers will return with task orders and more detailed scope and cost breakdowns when work is ready to proceed.
Councilmembers made and seconded a motion to adopt the ordinance; the vote was unanimous. The council also approved routine consent items earlier in the meeting by unanimous vote and, during the session, voted to table one business item for further review.
