Local Eagle Scout presents Arboretum Trail improvements proposal to commissioners

Artie Evans, a local resident working on an Eagle Scout project, briefed the Beaver County Board of Commissioners on plans to improve the Art Brigham Trail at Brady Front Park. Evans asked for county and partner help with trail blazing, signage, bench repair and material donations.

Evans described specific work he plans to do: clearing underbrush and downed material to "blaze" the trail, installing tree-identification signs, repairing or replacing three benches (he estimated donated materials would cover much of the bench cost), removing several old fence posts lying beside or on the path, and potentially applying gravel or asphalt millings if funding can be secured. He said he can provide labor and logistics but cannot cover the full material cost; he mentioned initial conversations about $500 and possible use of county paving millings.

A county official suggested coordinating with public works, parks and recreation, conservation and local paving contractors to source millings from paving projects. Commissioners offered to put Evans in touch with relevant departments and to explore whether millings could be deposited at Brady's Run for volunteer movement to the trail.

No formal county action or funding commitment was made; the presentation was recorded under visitors' comments. Evans said he intends this meeting to be his final appearance on the project and that he has received donations to help cover materials.
