Conroe outlines Frontier contract transition: carts, trucks and an app arriving this summer; rollout expected in September

Frontier representatives gave a status update to the Conroe City Council on May 21 about the city's upcoming solid-waste transition.
Terry Woodson, representing Frontier, said residential service will include once-weekly trash collection in a 95-gallon cart and once-weekly recycling in a 95-gallon cart, plus scheduled monthly brush and bulk pickup. Woodson said the operation expects about 14 side-loader trucks, two rear loaders, one front loader and one roll-off, and that about 32,000 trash carts and 32,000 recycling carts will be delivered. The carts will be color-coded and come with a trifold brochure that will be attached in a plastic bag; the brochure and a QR code on recycle lids will link to the city's recycling guide on the city website.
Woodson said an office build-out and permitting start June 1, with trucks arriving next month and July. The company held a job fair at the Hyatt Regency Conroe and reported more than 23 applicants; Frontier said it has begun local community outreach and will host senior-focused events and HOA meetings on request. An app with notifications and service alerts is expected to go live around September; before then, scanned QR codes will show the territory is not yet active.
Council thanked Frontier for the update and asked staff to continue coordination. The transcript shows no formal council vote on the contract transition during the meeting.
