City opens public hearing on tentative fiscal 2025–26 budget; final vote scheduled in June

Washington Terrace staff opened a public hearing May 20 on the tentative fiscal year 2025–26 budget and the city’s plan for fiscal years 2027–30.
Sherry (staff) told the council that the tentative budget and supporting materials are available online and that staff will return to the council for follow-up at the June 3 meeting. "We're going to do follow-up to the next meeting. Any changes to the tentative budget, we'll discuss those on the first meeting in June," Sherry said. She said the council is expected to adopt a final budget "the second meeting in June with the certified tax rate and the consolidated fee schedule."
Council members did not offer substantive changes during the hearing and no members of the public spoke. Staff encouraged residents to review posted materials; Sherry noted podcasts summarizing portions of the budget are available on the city's website.
The hearing closed with no action taken; the tentative budget process will continue through the June meetings as staff updates assumptions and prepares the adoption ordinance and tax-rate certification.
