Commissioners, fairgrounds staff and county staff discussed details of a request-for-proposals package to add electrical pedestals at the Morgan County Fairgrounds.
Presenters said the original RFP item placed pedestals as part of an exhibit-building add-on; staff proposed removing them from that add-on and creating a separate subsection specifically for power pedestals. Commissioners and staff agreed to increase the quantity discussed in the draft from four pedestals to a proposed 12 and to attach a site map showing proposed pedestal locations. Suggested placement included four pedestals along the back of the bleachers, additional pedestals near vendor areas behind the main stage, pedestals near the livestock building and several to serve a bounce-house/vendor fenced area.
Commissioners also asked staff to consider running conduit to the southwest corner of the parking lot now while excavation work is planned so future electrical work will be simpler and less costly. Staff and the fair board will finalize a map and the exact number and placement of pedestals before issuing the RFP. Commissioners noted per-unit costs will include installation, wiring and trenching beyond the cost of pedestal units themselves.
No formal vote was recorded; staff said they will update the RFP language, prepare a map, and coordinate with the fair board and public-works staff on conduit placement and final locations.
