Wichita County approves roughly $82,000 in security upgrades for election and courthouse facilities

Wichita County Commissioners Court voted unanimously on Tuesday to authorize two security-related contracts following a closed-session review of security devices.
Commissioner Buchanan moved to approve Digi quote number 019165 for the installation of external and internal security devices at the Emergency Management Office and Election Building for up to $61,104.95 to be paid from fund 409, with lines determined by the county auditor. Commissioner Beecham seconded the motion, and the court approved it 5-0.
Shortly afterward the court approved a change order (Digi quote number 020462) for the courthouse and courthouse annex security project in the amount of $20,632.46, again to be paid from fund 409 with lines determined by the county auditor. Commissioner Beecham made the motion and Commissioner Buchanan seconded; the motion carried 5-0.
County staff noted some of the Emergency Management/Election Building costs may be partially reimbursable through grant funding. Both items were discussed in closed session under Texas Government Code §551.089 (deliberations regarding security devices) before being returned to open session for the votes.
The court recorded no questions or requests to delay the expenditures during the open-session motions. County Judge closed the meeting at 11:42 a.m.
The actions authorize the contractor Digi to proceed with security installations and cover an approved change order on an ongoing courthouse project; staff will follow procurement and payment processes with lines determined by the county auditor.
