BATAVIA, Ohio — During public participation at the June 11 Clermont County commissioners meeting, resident Jen Mazuckelli of Union Township announced and invited the board and the public to a nonpartisan civic dialogue event she plans to host on Flag Day.
Mazuckelli said the event — described as a “no kings rally” to reaffirm the principle that power resides with the people — will be at Veterans Park near the helicopter from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 14. She said the event will be a community potluck with speakers and an open, civil conversation about civic engagement and community expectations of government, and she emphasized the event is not intended to be partisan.
“I'm hosting something just for everybody to come together as a community and just talk about what we expect from government,” Mazuckelli told the commissioners. She invited the commissioners to attend or speak; arrangements for a megaphone or appearance were noted as part of the invitation.
The board’s public-participation rules were read into the record at the start of the segment; commissioners did not engage in debate during the public comment period.
