Evansville Climate Collaborative elects chair and vice chair nominees; Roger Cohen to step down

Board members at the Evansville Climate Collaborative’s April 15 meeting nominated Stacy Melheiser as chair and Rob Flores as vice chair following Roger Cohen’s announcement that he will step down because of a work relocation to Indiana.
Stacy Melheiser accepted the nomination for chair. “Yes, I accept the nomination,” Melheiser said. Rob Flores accepted the nomination for vice chair, saying, “I humbly accept.” Board members discussed recruiting candidates to recommend to the mayor for the vacancy and planned to present several candidates for the mayor’s appointment; Norvell said the mayor will pick and appoint one candidate and the appointee would be sworn in.
The board also handled routine procedural items. A motion to approve the March minutes was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. At the meeting’s end a motion to adjourn was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Norvell said the Collaborative will use the next two months to vet candidates so that a replacement could be recommended and potentially confirmed by the July meeting; the board’s next meeting was scheduled for July 15 at 3:30 p.m.
