Park District seeks driveway easement at 4475 State Route 222 to improve shop access

BATAVIA, Ohio — Josh Torbeck, director of the Clermont County Park District, asked the Board of County Commissioners on June 11 to consider granting an easement at 4475 State Route 222 to create a single driveway connection to the county engineer’s compound and reduce traffic conflicts at the park shop entrance.
Torbeck told the commissioners drivers often brake suddenly to avoid the district’s vehicles when the shop uses the current park drive. He said a driveway connecting to the engineer’s compound — potentially piggybacking on an existing sewer easement — would create one controlled entry and exit point and reduce the chance of collisions.
Torbeck said the park district would be responsible for construction costs and would work with the engineer’s office on roadway condition and specifications, noting that paving would be preferable but subject to county direction.
The request was presented for consideration; the board asked clarifying questions about pavement and operational interference and heard Torbeck say the park district would comply with county and engineer requirements. No final action or vote to grant the easement was recorded on the meeting transcript.
