State EV workshop coming to Evansville June 10 as city pursues alternate charging funds

Lauren Norvell told the board that GoEVIN, a public-private partnership between the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Drive Clean Indiana, is running a statewide road show promoting grant funding for electric-vehicle charging. The Evansville workshop is scheduled for June 10 at 9:30 a.m. at Red Bank Library.
Norvell said she plans to attend and “apply for some funding for Evansville for EV charging.” She described GoEVIN as one of several alternative funding sources the Collaborative is pursuing after the termination of the EPA Community Change grant and noted the federal NEVI program has been suspended in some respects. “The NEVI program has been suspended as well,” she said, and the Collaborative is looking for other options to support local EV infrastructure.
Board member Stacy Melheiser, who said she serves on Drive Clean Indiana’s executive board and chairs its outreach and education committee, said she will participate in the outreach and encouraged members to attend. “I’ll buy you breakfast,” she joked while encouraging attendance.
Norvell said GoEVIN is intended for businesses, nonprofits, municipalities and the general public and can assist with workplace charging, grant application support, and information about matching or 100% funded programs. She pointed the board to goevin.com for more information and said the Collaborative will consider applying for grants from the program for specific Evansville projects.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; Norvell asked board members to promote the June workshop and offered staff support for applications.
