Recovery Action Network of Michigan to open storefront recovery center in Wayne

The Recovery Action Network of Michigan announced at the Wayne City Council meeting that it will open a storefront recovery community center in roughly two weeks to provide peer support, education and overdose-prevention services.

"My name is Lisonbee Hurst. I'm the executive director of Recovery Action Network of Michigan," Hurst said. "We are a nonprofit recovery community organization, which means that we're an organization run by people in recovery from substance use, and we put on programming that supports recovery in our community. I'm here just I want to announce in 2 weeks, we're going to be, opening our storefront property. We have a recovery community center."

Hurst said the drop-in center will offer peer recovery coaches, education, overdose prevention and naloxone distribution, connection to treatment and peer support groups. "It's going to be a drop in center where people can come meet with peer recovery coaches, get some education and support to support their recovery. We provide resources, connect them to treatment. We do peer support groups, overdose prevention, naloxone distribution," she said.

Hurst invited council members and the public to a grand opening and left informational cards describing the organization’s services. No action by council was required; the announcement was part of the public-comment period.
