St. Francis board announces Saints Online management change, names new elementary principal and reports higher graduation rate

District administrators told the St. Francis Area Schools board on May 27 that Saints Online — the district’s online program — will change management on July 1 so building principals oversee the program instead of operating as a separate site.
Mister Anderson explained the change is intended to simplify enrollment and reduce administrative burden when students move between Saints Online and in-person sites; he said curriculum and teachers will remain largely the same and that the transition aims to make sign-ups and class changes easier for students, families and counselors. Erica Campbell, a high-school counselor, will lead the transition.
The board also approved the appointment of Carla Winter as principal of St. Francis Elementary School. Anderson said Winter is the current principal at Chisholm Elementary, has three years in that role, and has prior experience as a director of teaching and learning in Winona. The district reported there were about 20 applicants for the post and that site and district panels conducted interviews.
In administrative reports, the board highlighted academic and extracurricular recognition: Glenn Morehouse Olsen received the 2025 Theater Educator Award and the district’s theater production of Seussical earned a community engagement recognition and was selected to perform at the state theater on June 9. The board also reported the district received a certificate of excellence in financial reporting.
Administrators presented data showing the high school graduation rate rose to 96.5 percent — an increase from 2023 and the highest rate in five years, according to the report. The district also reported nearly 85 seniors received scholarships totaling approximately $120,000 this year from more than 45 contributing organizations.
Officials reminded the board of upcoming events: Saints Academy graduation on May 29 and Saint Francis High School graduation on May 30. The district also scheduled a special closed session for June 9 for attorney–client privilege regarding active litigation.
