Columbiana library reports lower May services and lays out summer programs

Jennifer said 75 people had signed up for summer reading and that 42 people attended library activities the day of the meeting. She outlined the library’s summer schedule: weekly Friday morning crafts at 10 a.m. during the summer-reading period; Doc Magic will appear at the library on June 10 at 2 p.m.; movie nights will include showings of Leap, Miss Potter and Soul in June and July; and a Safe House–led four-session tween-and-teen art program is scheduled for June 4, June 18, July 2 and July 9 at 2 p.m.
When asked about age ranges, Jennifer said most participants are elementary-school age but that the programs run through high school and that the library runs an adult summer-reading program in August.
The library report provided attendance and service-value figures; staff did not present a breakdown of the $42,910 figure or the metrics used to calculate it during the report.
The council did not take formal action on library programming during this meeting.
