The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors voted to hire Landon Green as county administrator and authorized the chair to sign his employment contract.
The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors on June approved Landon Green as the county's next administrator and authorized the board chair to sign his employment contract.
The vote followed a public announcement by the board that Green was selected after interviews of four finalists. The board then voted to approve his contract and separately approved a motion authorizing the chair to sign the employment agreement.
Green, who was present at the meeting, told the board, "I'm Landon Green. It's an honor and privilege to be here. I'm looking forward to serving the county and appreciate the board's support." The board's announcement said Green holds a bachelor of science in business administration from Longwood University and a master of science in business management from Liberty University. The board also noted his roughly 20-year career at BWXT, including service as manager of supply oversight and security in the company's government operations division since February 2018.
Board members said Green's background in stakeholder relations and regulatory environments informed their decision. The board made the formal hiring decision by voice vote; the motion to approve the employment contract carried. The board later approved a separate motion, also carried, authorizing the chair to sign the contract on behalf of Charlotte County.
The board announced Green's appointment during the regular meeting after a prior closed session in which the supervisors said they discussed “assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salary, disciplining, or resignation” of a specific county employee in accordance with the Code of Virginia.
