Staff said the secure-storage unit(s) would be temporary structures with a surrounding fence to protect county equipment and suggested seeking contractor quotes for each design option. Commissioners discussed concerns about parking, potential encampments and winter plowing access. Facilities staff recommended soliciting multiple quotes and coordinating with the county plow contractor and sheriff about access and vehicle storage.
The commission gave informal authorization to prepare and issue an RFP for fencing/pricing on the three conceptual options and asked staff to include the facilities director and plow contractor in site planning. No specific funding was approved at the meeting; staff will return with quotes and recommendations.
