The Livingston Parish Planning Commission voted unanimously Thursday to approve a preliminary site plan for a Sun Auto Delta World Tire to be located on the south side of Watson on Highway 16.
Planning staff recommended approval after the applicant addressed the department’s comments, and the commission held a public hearing before taking the vote.
Thomas Luce, a civil engineer on the project team for applicant Windward Holdings, said the team has coordinated with the Department of Transportation on access and was available to answer questions. “As you see, our site plan, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have, but, it is will be on the South Side Of Watson on Highway 16. And, we've been coordinating with DOT, and, we are had a good footing with them to move forward with our access zone,” Luce said.
Planning staff (Morgan) told the commission that “all of our comments have been addressed and we would recommend approval [preliminary site plan].” Commissioners asked whether a fence was required along portions of the site; staff and the applicant indicated a fence was not required given adjacent uses and the configuration of the parcel, and noted the area near the dental office and Rudy’s would not require a fence.
After brief discussion, the commission approved the preliminary site plan by unanimous vote.
Votes at a glance: Engler — Yes; Clemons — Yes; Wax — Yes; Dana — Yes; Burns — Yes; Long — Yes.
The commission said remaining technical questions would be addressed during final plan review and coordinating permit work with DOT.
