Executive Officer Jennifer Stevenson provided an application update: San Benito County LAFCO has received an application from Sunny Slope County Water District seeking annexation of the Best Roads Municipal Mutual Water Company service area.
Stevenson said the annexation should be presented to the commission at its August meeting but that scheduling depends on the county first adopting a resolution approving a tax‑sharing agreement of zero. “It should be fairly straightforward given that there will be no tax sharing,” Stevenson said, but she noted the timing of when the item will appear on the August agenda depends on the county’s action.
A commissioner asked whether physical connection to the water district could occur before LAFCO completes its process; staff said applicants may be prepared to connect sooner and could submit connection requests before the August meeting, but the timing depended on the application processing and county steps. Stevenson said Sunny Slope had been waiting to obtain signatures from individual landowners before filing; she told the commission she advised the district to file the application so the processing could begin.
No formal vote was taken; the item was informational and staff said they would notify the county and proceed with processing once the county adopts the required resolution.
