Commission hears updates on Bridal artwork RFP, wayfinding IGA and sculpture placement

Staff provided updates on several active projects: the "Bridal" artwork RFP, wayfinding signs for shared messaging with Englewood Schools, and proposed sculpture placements and ArtPad installs in the City Center.
Bridal artwork: staff said RFP submissions for the Bridal artwork project were due the day after the meeting and that the pre-proposal meeting drew interest. The project will not restrict medium; bidders may propose dimensional (3-D) elements as alternatives to painted or vinyl wraps. Staff said they will evaluate proposals based on cost, design, durability and value and coordinate with CDOT on color and design viability because the agency has raised questions about acceptable color treatments. Staff expects to present proposals to the commission in July.
Wayfinding / IGA: staff reported City Council approved an IGA amendment with Englewood Schools for shared wayfinding signs. The amendment covers three shared-message wayfinding signs at Pacific Center Park and nearby school locations.
Sculptures / ArtPad: staff reviewed available ArtPad locations in the City Center Circle and a $400 approximate installation cost per ArtPad. Commissioners considered placing a completed Rainbow Point sculpture on an ArtPad in the City Center Circle to respond to an artist who has been awaiting placement. Staff noted site visibility, seasonal events and pedestrian traffic when recommending pads; commissioners raised flexibility to move lightweight pieces if a better location surfaces.
Next steps: staff will review incoming RFP proposals for the Bridal project, meet with CDOT on acceptable color and design constraints, finalize ArtPad permitting and consult with parks/public-works on installation logistics. Commissioners asked staff to return with cost estimates, vendor feedback and visual-location mock-ups in July.
