Waynoka staff report higher revenues, ongoing bond construction and upcoming bathroom bid opening

District staff reported to the Waynoka Public Schools Board that the general fund is up for the month and year as the district closes out a bond and received an insurance settlement on vehicles. The staff member said a $37,000 insurance claim on district vehicles contributed to the increase and that the district is up on the year by about $1 million because of a target settlement referenced in the presentation.

Staff told the board the building fund showed no monthly expenditures but is up on the year — "probably will be up somewhere in the neighborhood of $700,000" — reflecting ongoing bond construction costs through the end of the fiscal year. Staff said building fund revenues are also up for the year as construction activity continues.

Child nutrition expenditures were reported as down year-to-date; staff said some timing differences (a Keystone bill processed in June rather than May this year) are likely factors and that revenue is expected to be roughly flat on the year. Day care expenditures were described as essentially flat compared to the previous year; daycare revenue has declined, which staff attributed to a smaller enrollment this year.

Staff reviewed several open facilities projects: an upcoming bid opening on June 12 for restroom work, outstanding epoxy work in the indoor concession and bathroom areas, a light replacement, work on stairs and the track, and roof leaks in the new addition that staff expected to address that week. The district also noted that its location will host the OSSBA regional meeting on Nov. 6.

The board did not take separate action on the finance report; staff presented the financial figures to inform the board as it closes the fiscal year.
